Music vs Crime

In partnership with the Metropolitan Police, this initiative explores how music can inspire positive change, break stereotypes, and transform lives.

Music vs Crime is a structured, music-based intervention programme designed to support young people in understanding the relationship between music, identity, peer influence, decision-making, and real-world risks that can impact behaviour and life outcomes.

Delivered in partnership with schools and relevant agencies where appropriate, the programme uses music as a structured engagement tool to explore behaviour, influence, and safeguarding awareness in a safe and supported environment.

Rather than focusing on music as a cultural discussion alone, the programme uses it as a lens for intervention, helping young people reflect on choices, consequences, and personal responsibility.

 INTERVENTION FOCUS

The programme supports pupils who may be experiencing vulnerability linked to:

  • peer influence and risky decision-making

  • disengagement from education or reduced participation

  • exposure to exploitation risks (including CSE, CCE, grooming, county lines)

  • identity formation challenges and social pressure

  • behavioural escalation or safeguarding concerns

It is designed to strengthen protective factors and support informed, positive choices.

CORE THEMES EXPLORED

Sessions are structured and interactive, focusing on key areas including:

  • the influence of music, environment, and culture on behaviour

  • identity, perception, and social stereotypes

  • decision-making and consequences

  • social media, image, and online identity

  • peer pressure, exploitation, and grooming awareness

  • gang culture, belonging, and alternative pathways
